Special Needs Support Group

Being a parent for a child with special needs or developmental difficulties is always a challenge. HCM clients have an especially hard time caring for their kids because of poverty, language barriers, and lack of resources. For the most part, they can't afford expensive child care or mental or physical health treatments.

HCM started NiƱos Especiales, Familias Fuertas (Special Children, Strong Families) to help families cope with the hardships of parenting and celebrate their children's unique capabilities. HCM outreach workers stay on-site at a local low-income clinic so that parents know they always have a resource. HCM also offers weekly classes tailored toward special needs families which include information on community resources and on counseling for parents. The fathers and mothers we serve love their children, and we are dedicated to helping them provide the best care possible for themselves and their families.
