Kids learn self-esteem and coping skills while working out their muscles!
For the next ten weeks, eleven boys and girls from Ecker Hill Middle School are learning jiu jitsu from Park City Jiu Jitsu. They are participating in the Soul Empowered program, which is focused on preventing bullying by encouraging self-esteem, conflict resolution, and self-defense. Holy Cross staff worked with school counselors at Ecker to identify low-income, at-risk students with potential behavioral or self-esteem issues who would benefit from the program, and all students are attending for free thanks to generous support from the Brink Foundation. Go kids!
