The federal government has created programs that give undocumented victims of violence a pathway to citizenship. Our staff of lawyers and professionals help victims and their families apply for legal residency; find shelter, food, and medical care; get mental health counseling; and communicate with law enforcement. Since 2000, Holy Cross Ministries has helped over 10,000 women and children through our legal program.
As many as 37% of women in Utah experience domestic violence, and as many as 50% of immigrant women have been victimized. Once they receive papers, women are able to come out of the shadows into the community.
